Spanish Cocksfoot // Dactylis glomerata var. hispanica

Generally considered as a replacement for Porto Cocksfoot in areas with less than 700mm annual rainfall in southern Australia. Uplands has persisted now for 12 years grazing at the driest site in Tasmania.

  • High tiller density
  • Very drought tolerant
  • Some summer activity
  • Persists well under hand grazing
  • Palatable
  • Very tolerant to high levels of soil aluminium and acid soils
