THE SPANISH COCKSFOOT FOR DRY COUNTRY
Sendace
was bred from populations originating in the hot summer - cold winter
climate of Central Spain. These populations are characterised by
excellent drought tolerance, ability to grow at low winter temperatures
and summer dormancy. At the driest site in Tasmania Sendace
has persisted exceptionally well through a series of droughts, and it was unaffected by heavy frosts in not suffering leaf scald.
Coupled with its dense tillering habit and very fine leaves it is
ideally suited to grazing by sheep.
